Repairs come after the wave
The drones take off only once a wave has been cleared, so they cannot save a base during a wave. They make up for the lives you lost, ready for the next one.

After each wave, every drone repairs one life of the base

The Repair Drones tower never shoots. When a wave has been cleared, each of its drones takes off, flies to your base, repairs 1 life and flies home: 1 drone at level 1 and one more every level, up to 5 at level 5. It costs 300 gold, and how far it can be upgraded is set by the Drone Bays research. Drones only fly for lives the base is missing, so it never takes the base above full health.
Base numbers: no research, cards or neighbours. (+n) is the change from the level before.
The drones take off only once a wave has been cleared, so they cannot save a base during a wave. They make up for the lives you lost, ready for the next one.
Without it the tower stays at level 1, one drone. Each level of the research lets it go one level higher, up to level 5.
It needs no view of the path. Put it on a spot no gun wants; how far it is from the base only changes how long the trip takes, not what it repairs.
Every drone repairs 1 life, whichever tower it comes from, and two towers never send drones for the same missing life.
It never waits on standby like a gun does. It draws its full power all the time: 3 at level 1, 5 at level 5.
Pick a level and how many Repair Drones towers you build, and see how many lives they repair after each wave, what they cost and the power they draw. Share the build with a link.
Each wave offers 3 cards. Up to 5 cards of each stat a game, then that stat comes only as grey Endless cards (a random amount in the range shown). Percent per card:

Levels 1-5One drone per level, each repairing 1 life after a wave. Level 2 needs Drone Bays level 1, level 5 needs all 4 levels of it.
GoldUpgrading to level 2 costs 450 gold for one more drone; a second tower costs 360. Upgrades get dearer every level (level 5 alone costs 1,518 gold), new towers a step of 60 gold each.
Research (main menu, Upgrades & Research) unlocks the Repair Drones tower for 50,000 XP. Its one research item has 4 levels for 2,000, 5,000, 12,000 and 25,000 XP (44,000 XP for all 4).
each level lets the tower be upgraded 1 level further, so one more drone; all 4 levels take it to level 5, 5 drones. In a challenge that turns research off it stays at level 1.

No. Its drones take off only when a wave has been cleared: every enemy of it gone and none left to come. Each drone then flies to the base, welds for 1.6 seconds, repairs 1 life and flies home. It makes up for lives you lost; it cannot stop a wave from destroying the base.
Its top level is set by the Drone Bays research: level 1 without it, one level more for each level of Drone Bays, up to level 5 with all 4. In a challenge that turns research off it stays at level 1.
Yes. Each drone repairs 1 life, whichever tower it belongs to, so three level-1 towers repair three lives after a wave. Drones only fly for lives the base is actually missing, and two towers never send drones for the same life, so the base never goes above full health.
Either the base has no lives missing (or drones already on their way cover them), the drones are still out from the last trip, or the tower has no power. A drone only takes off for a life that is missing after the wave is cleared.
Its full power, all the time: it never shoots, so it never drops to standby like a gun. That is 3 at level 1, up to 5 at level 5. If the grid cannot give it all of that, it gets none (NO POWER) and its drones stay home, so a Repair Drones tower far from the base is the first to lose its power when the grid is short.
Not for what it repairs. Distance from the base only changes how long the trip takes. Hills, platforms, neighbours and grass change damage, fire rate and range, and it uses none of those, so build it on a spot your guns do not need.
Both add one drone. A second tower costs 360 gold, upgrading the first to level 2 costs 450, so early on a new tower is cheaper. Upgrades get dearer each level (level 5 alone costs 1,518), and each tower draws power all the time, so weigh gold against power.
No. End-of-wave stat cards are never offered for the Repair Drones tower: more drones come only from levels, and more levels only from Drone Bays research.
